Icelandic companies take part in business climate change conference
Nordic Climate Solutions 2009 is the name of Northern Europe’s biggest meeting of energy and transport stakeholders within the field of renewable energy and climate change.
Over 1,000 producers, suppliers, customers and business partners, as well as politicians and scientists will gather in Copenhagen to focus on “market trends, drivers and barriers and framework conditions for transport, energy efficiency, renewable and intelligent energy”.
Among them will be Landsvirkjun, Iceland’s biggest producer of renewable energy and a world leading expert in geothermal and hydroelectric power generation.
Another Icelandic participant will be Marorka, a leading global provider of energy management solutions to the shipping industry. Marorka’s work helps international shippers to lower costs, while increasing the fuel efficiency of their operations and reducing harmful emissions.
Also booked to participate in the September 8 and 9 conference in Copenhagen is the Institute for Meteorological Research, the Icelandic institute responsible for the Belgingur.is website, which is one of the most accurate and technologically advanced weather forecasting tools available. The IMR weather tracking technology is already being used to monitor climate change and to assist Icelandic Search & Rescue teams.
The Trade Council of Iceland is also taking part in the event to emphasise Iceland’s expertise in the field of renewable energy and the country’s great potential in the global fight against global warming.
